There's something about spring that just hits different, you know? The air shifts, the sun feels warmer on your face, and suddenly the world explodes with color. And nowhere is that more magical than in a field of fresh tulips, swaying in the breeze, waiting for you to pick your favorites and take them home.
At Vineyard Farm, we're all about those moments that feel simple but somehow stay with you forever. The kind of Saturday morning where the kids are laughing, you're not staring at a screen, and everyone's hands smell like fresh earth and flower stems. That's what our tulip u-pick experience is all about, and honestly, it's become one of our favorite parts of spring.
The Tulip Fields: Your Canvas of Color
Picture this: rows and rows of vibrant tulips stretching across our fields. Deep purples, sunny yellows, candy-pink, fiery reds, creamy whites, and those gorgeous bi-color varieties that look like they've been hand-painted. When you visit Vineyard Farm during tulip season, you're not just picking flowers, you're creating your own bouquet exactly the way you want it.

Here's how it works: we hand you a bucket (or two, no judgment), point you toward the fields, and let you loose. No rush, no pressure. Wander through the rows, pick the ones that make your heart happy, and fill that bucket to the brim. Some people go for coordinated color palettes. Others grab every color under the sun. Kids usually beeline for the tallest ones or the "funniest-looking" blooms. There's no wrong way to do it.
The best part? These aren't grocery store tulips that wilt in three days. These are farm-fresh, just-cut-by-you beauties that'll brighten your kitchen table for over a week. And let's be real, there's something deeply satisfying about telling people "Yeah, I picked these myself" when they compliment your bouquet.
More Than Just Flowers
Look, we could just be a pick-your-own flower operation and call it a day. But that's not really our vibe. When families come to Vineyard Farm, we want them to actually experience farm life, not just snap a few photos and leave.
So yeah, you'll fill your bucket with gorgeous tulips. But you'll also get to explore the whole farm, breathe in that fresh country air, and remember what it's like to slow down for a minute.

Bring a picnic blanket and spread out under the trees. Let the kids run through the open spaces (trust us, they'll sleep well that night). Take a stroll through our other seasonal gardens. Grab something cold to drink from our farm stand. The point is to stay awhile, soak it all in, and reconnect with the people you came with.
We've seen first dates turn into engagements, families celebrate grandma's birthday with armfuls of her favorite colored tulips, and tired parents finally get to have an actual conversation while their kids explore safely. That's the kind of space we're trying to create here.
Meet the Crew: Our Farm Animals
Now, if you come to Vineyard Farm and don't visit the animals, did you even really visit? Our goats, chickens, and rabbits are basically the unofficial welcoming committee, and they take their jobs very seriously.
The goats are characters, plain and simple. They're curious, they're goofy, and they will try to convince you they haven't been fed in weeks (they have). Kids absolutely love feeding them, and honestly, adults do too. There's something weirdly therapeutic about a goat munching pellets out of your hand while looking at you with those rectangular pupils.

Our chickens free-range around their coop area, clucking and pecking and doing their chicken thing. They're surprisingly entertaining to watch, and if you time it right, you might catch them dust-bathing or arguing over the best roosting spot. We usually have fresh eggs available at the farm stand too, there's really nothing like a farm-fresh egg if you've never had one.
And then there are the rabbits. Soft, gentle, and perfect for the littlest visitors who might be intimidated by the more rambunctious goats. We've watched countless toddlers quietly pet a bunny for the first time, completely mesmerized. It's pretty much guaranteed to be the highlight of their day (and yours, if you're being honest).
Why Family Time at the Farm Just Hits Different
Here's the thing about taking your family to a farm: it's one of those rare activities where everyone, from your toddler to your teenager to your skeptical spouse, can actually enjoy themselves at the same time.
The little ones are in heaven because animals! flowers! dirt! running! The older kids can take Instagram-worthy photos and actually seem interested in something. Adults get to unplug, chat, and remember what it's like to just be somewhere without an agenda. Grandparents get to watch their grandkids discover things they probably discovered on farms themselves decades ago.
There's no WiFi in the tulip fields (okay, there probably is, but pretend there isn't). No tablets, no schedules, no pressure. Just your people, some flowers, a few friendly farm animals, and the simple pleasure of spending a spring day outside together.
We've had families tell us that their farm visit became an annual tradition. That their kids ask about "the goat farm" all year long. That the tulips they picked together still make them smile every time they see the photos. That's the kind of memory-making we're here for.
Keeping the Land as a Farm: Why It Matters
Real talk for a second: keeping land as working farmland is getting harder. Development pressures are real, and it would be easy to sell out and let this place turn into something else. But we believe farms matter: not just for food production, but for community, for connection to nature, for giving families a place to experience something real.

When you visit Vineyard Farm, you're not just picking tulips or feeding goats. You're supporting a small farm that's committed to staying a farm. You're voting with your feet (and your dollars) for preserving agricultural land and keeping these spaces accessible to families who want to reconnect with where their food comes from and how things grow.
It's easy to feel disconnected from nature when you're surrounded by concrete and screens all day. We get it: we live in the same world. But farms like ours offer a chance to reset that balance, even if it's just for a few hours on a Saturday morning. To let your kids see that vegetables come from the ground, eggs come from chickens, and flowers grow from bulbs we plant in the fall and tend all winter.
That's not just good for the soul: it's good for the next generation, too.
Planning Your Visit
Our tulip season typically runs from late April through May, depending on how spring decides to behave. (Mother Nature is the real boss around here, and she doesn't always follow the schedule.) Weekend mornings are prime time, so they fill up fast. Weekdays tend to be quieter if you're looking for a more peaceful experience.
Wear comfortable shoes: you'll be walking through fields, and cute sandals are no match for farm terrain. Bring a camera or make sure your phone is charged because the photo ops are endless. Sunscreen is your friend. And if you want to picnic, pack a cooler and make an afternoon of it.
Check out our website for current bloom updates, hours, and any special events we've got planned. We'll keep you posted on social media too: follow along so you don't miss the peak bloom window.
Come Create Some Magic
Look, we're not promising to change your life or solve all your problems. But we are promising a morning full of color, fresh air, animal snuggles, and the kind of simple joy that's been getting harder to find.
Spring doesn't last forever, and tulip season is even shorter. So grab your crew, head to Vineyard Farm, and make some memories in the fields. Pick the flowers that make you happy. Feed the goats. Let the kids get a little dirty. Take the photos. And take home a bouquet that'll remind you all week that sometimes the best moments are the simplest ones.
